Winbush, the lone child of Anthony and Alice Winbush, was born in Los Angeles, California, on February 9, 1990. She was homeschooled and received education from a set tutor while she was an actor as a child, therefore she never went to public school. Winbush spent her early years competing in gymnastics.
In 1994, Winbush made her acting debut as Lucy Wilkes in the television series Viper. She appeared in her debut movie, Dangerous Minds, the following year. She played Emma Aimes, the character’s daughter, on the sitcom Minor Adjustments (1995–1996) on a regular basis. Rondell Sheridan played the role. In a Halloween episode of Brotherly Love, Winbush played Emma once again.

Winbush portrayed Lauren Treacy, a recurrent character in The Secret Life of the American Teenager, from 2008 until 2013. Idara Victor was replaced in the part of Miriam in the web series The Choir by Winbush. She voiced Rhonda in the animated film Children of Ether and Syrena in the film Cannon Busters, both of which were created by LeSean Thomas.
For the compilation album School’s Out! Christmas, Winbush recorded “One Small Voice” with Myra and Taylor Momsen and “The Night Before Christmas Song” in 2002. She also contributed vocals to the Geppetto soundtrack by Disney.
In Pasadena, California, Winbush ran a Baked Ice ice cream parlour while still a teen. When Winbush wasn’t available, an aunt oversaw the store when it first opened in 2003.She got a Teenpreneur Award from Black Enterprise in 2004. The firm was still extant as of 2005.
