Prince Harry Already Left the Building Following King Charles's Coronation

Publish date: 2024-04-28

King Charles III's coronation wrapped up just a couple hours ago—and Prince Harry is already gone.

The Duke of Sussex stopped by London for a quick while to attend the big royal event, but BAZAAR.com understands he left Westminster Abbey with his fellow royal relatives after his dad was crowned, and is now heading back to California, where wife Duchess Meghan and their two kids are waiting.

The only members of the royal family Harry spoke to during the coronation ceremony were those he was pictured next to.

BAZAAR published the photos of Harry's icy reunion with brother Prince William and Princess Kate at the coronation—which actually didn't seem much like a reunion at all, as Harry was seated two rows behind Kate and William. Harry was, however, captured seemingly glancing at his older brother.

The duke was seated on the third row during the ceremony, next to cousins Princess Eugenie and Princess Beatrice, whom he walked into the abbey with.

BAZAAR previously reported that Harry would be flying into London shortly before the May 6 event and leaving immediately after, which meant he would stay in the city for less than 48 hours and would not attend the coronation events on May 7 and 8.

The news came after it was confirmed last month that Harry would attend the coronation ceremony on May 6 without wife Meghan Markle. Though both were invited to the event, Duchess Meghan decided to stay home with kids Prince Archie and Princess Lilibet. Archie turns four years old today, on the same day as his royal grandfather's coronation.

Harry's attendance at King Charles and Queen Camilla's coronation marked his first reunion with his royal family since the release of his tell-all memoir, Spare, in which he revealed strings of details about the inner workings of the family and the royal institution. While he did visit London after the publication of his book, BAZAAR reported that he did not see his father or his brother, Prince William.

The last time he and Meghan reunited with Harry's royal relatives was last September, for the funeral of Queen Elizabeth II, who died on September 8.
