Prince Charles And Duchess Camilla Arrive At Meghan Markle And Prince Harry's Royal Wedding

Publish date: 2024-09-06

Prince Charles and the Duchess of Cornwall looked every inch the proud father and stepmother as they arrived for Prince Harry's wedding to Meghan Markle today.

The pair were coordinated with Charles's hot pink boutonnière offsetting Camilla's pale pink ensemble, and among the few heeding royal tradition in their outfit choices.

Camilla, 70, wore a dress and coat by Anna Valentine, with a saucer-shaped feathered headpiece by Philip Treacy that is already dividing opinion. Treacy also designed the infamous "pretzel" hat worn by Princess Beatrice to the wedding of the Duke and Duchess of Cambridge.

She completed the look with a cream snakeskin envelope clutch, pearl earrings and a dazzling pearl multi-strand choker gathered by a large pink topaz and diamond clasp that was originally an Edwardian-era brooch. The piece is believed to have been purchased at auction by Prince Charles in 2000.

The Duchess's look is comparable with the cream coat and dress worn for Prince William's wedding. It was also a design by Anna Valentine and was complemented by a similarly shaped hat.

Charles, 69, wore a gray morning coat by Savile Row tailor Anderson & Sheppard with a shirt by Turnbull & Asser.

Charles, of course, was given a major role in the wedding ceremony after it emerged that Meghan's father, Thomas Markle, would not be able to travel following heart surgery. The Prince was asked by his daughter-in-law to accompany her to the altar in her father's stead. The change was so last-minute, Mr. Markle's name was still printed on the official programs.
