A Florida deputy was killed in a car accident on Tuesday in Charlotte County, and the driver has been named as Cassandra Smith of Lakeville, Massachusetts, who is thought to have been under the influence.

After causing a collision on Interstate 75 in Cleveland, Florida on Tuesday that resulted in the death of a deputy, Cassie Smith, 30, was detained on suspicion of driving under the influence.

According to reports, Smith was driving a Jeep on Interstate 75 in Cleveland, south of US-17, when the Jeep crossed centerlines and struck the deputy’s patrol car from behind. The deputy, the Honda, and its driver were all struck by the police car, which was struck by the collision’s force.
